North Carolina Department of Transportation Career Exploration Day

Warren County High School students in the Engineering and Construction Technology Academy participated in the North Carolina Department of Transportation Career Exploration Day. This event created a critical link between the classroom and the workplace by giving the students the opportunity to see first hand the various career opportunities within the transportation industry. The event was held at the North Carolina State fairgrounds in Raleigh.

Students Participate in the Vance Granville Community College Construction and Logistics Expo

Students in the academy participated in the Construction and Logistics Job Expo on April 8, 2015 at Vance Granville Community College. Members of the Construction Industry were present to talk about job opportunities available for students. Below are pictures from the event.

Students Visit the Fayetteville Transportation Museum

I conjunction with the Battleship trip, the students had an opportunity to visit the transportation museum in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The guides provided instruction throughout the tour explaining all aspects of the transportation industry. Check out the pictures below.

Warren County High School Students Tour the Battleship in Wilmington North Carolina

Students took a close look at maritime transportation in Wilmington, North Carolina. They participated in a day long tour of the U.S.S. Battleship. Staff members from the battleship provided instructional sessions on all aspects of the ship. Check out the pictures below from the event.

Students Visit Southeastern US and South Carolina Railroad Museums

Students at Warren County High School traveled to Duluth, Georgia and Winnsboro, South Carolina to visit two railroad museums on March 11 and 12th. They left Warren County High School at 4:00 am on March 11th and traveled to Duluth, Georgia to visit the Southeastern Railroad Museum. They stayed overnight in Georgia and left early on the 12th. On the way home, they stopped in Winnsboro, South Carolina and toured the South Carolina Railroad Museum in Winnsboro. This trip was made possible by a partnership with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.  The students are being exposed to all aspects of the transportation industry.
